Rowling Plans to Please Fans with Sequal to Series

NEW YORK—April 16, 2011—With the entire generation of Harry Potter coming to a close, JK Rowling received word many months ago of several fans’ wishes for more.  Even with the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure, and the seperation of the final movie into two parts—six months apart—fans everywhere realized that the legendary journey of Harry Potter was over.  Rowling secretly decided a year ago that she would create A Sequel to the Series: The Next Generation of Hogwarts, because people began to discuss disappointment towards the end of a generation of literature.

“My fans are extremely important to me,” claims Rowling, “Without any of them I would not be this successful, so I am overjoyed to grant them their wish: more Harry Potter.  In the long run, I am well aware that all great things must come to an end, but for now, a standing ovation is in order.”

Rowling created this sequel entirely with her fans in mind.  The stories and adventures are new, but the magical suspense and the enchanting mystery, which made the original series so popular, remain.  “I hope the fans are pleased with the certain similarities between some parents and children, but also surprised by the shocking differences.  The relationships and people within the story are tested for strength in many ways that are different than before.  All of these factors lead to an unexpected, twisted ending,” Rowling claims, emphasizing the familiarity and novelty of this sequel.

The Harry Potter franchise has grown exponentially since 1997, and Rowling does not intend to let it end with disappointed fans.  When this sequel is released in 2011, Rowling hopes that her fans will be equally—if not more—enthralled by the stories of the next wizarding generation.

The Sequel to the Harry Potter Series Released This Year

NEW YORK—April 16, 2011—A few weeks before the Harry Potter phenomenon appears to come to an end with the seventh film’s debut in theaters, JK Rowling announces that she has completed an eighth novel based on Harry Potter’s entire journey.  While the first seven novels document the magical whirlwind that is Harry Potter’s life, this novel, The Sequel to the Series: The Next Generation of Hogwarts, elaborates significantly on the last chapter of the seventh novel.  This chapter introduces the children of Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, Draco and Asteria, along with a few others, and paves the way for Rowling’s newest novel to delve into the new adventures that Hogwarts, and the entire wizarding world, hold for these young witches and wizards.

In 2011,  A Sequal to the Series: The Next Generation of Hogwarts will hit the shelves of international bookstores with a price tag of twenty dollars and a page count of approximately 800 pages—a similar number of pages as the last few Harry Potter novels, which, as Rowling states, “foreshadows the amount of jam-packed action and suspense that occurred in Harry’s first year at Hogwarts as well.”

From dragons and dementors to werewolves and wrackspurts, Rowling creates a new and improved version of the original Harry Potter series, yet manages to incorporate details from the earlier novels. Rowling explains, “I do not wish to disclose too much on these details, or on the plot, but I will provide a full list of the main characters*.  Also, know that even if Voldermort is gone, his followers, and other dark wizards, remain; thus, evil still lurks in the most unexpected places—and people.”
